Plug Smart is one of the most successful energy efficient lighting retrofitting companies in the United States. Realizing the need for large industrials, school districts, universities, hospitals and facility engineers to find ways to conserve energy and cut their operating costs, Plug Smart provides improved energy efficient lighting products as replacements for existing higher wattage fixtures.
Most recently Plug Smart has successfully completed an energy efficient lighting retrofit project from technology giant Belkin International at its distribution center in Plainfield, Indiana. The Plug Smart team took detailed lighting measurements, analyzed the energy consumption, and evaluated optimum lighting levels throughout this 800,000 square foot facility.
Using their proprietary Plug Smart Energy Savings Qualifier Tool, they presented Belkin with a comprehensive lighting upgrade solution that reduced Belkin’s energy consumption 34%, improved lighting conditions throughout the facility with a payback period of only 22 months. This included the replacement of inefficient metal halide lights with more efficient 6 lamp T5 fixtures in addition to installing motion sensors, daylight sensors and other more energy efficient technology.
This environmental impact of this project resulted in Belkin reducing their carbon and sulfur dioxide emssisions by 3,527,108 and 13,843 pounds per annum. This is the equivalent of removing 305 automobiles from our highways or adding 437 acres of new forest to the environment.
